The Bar Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month.

December’s book is “What We Can Know” by Ian McEwan. The novel is set a century in the future and looks back at today through the point of view of a scholar searching for a lost poem. The Guardian describes it as a novel depicting "a picture of our times … that quietly compels us to consider the moral consequences of global catastrophe”.

As this will be the last book club for the year, our meeting will be at Fix St James (111 Elizabeth St, Sydney) for dinner from 5.30pm on Tuesday, 2 December 2025.
