Tomorrow: Farewell ceremony for the Hon Justice Ian Harrison

After 18 years of service, the Hon Justice Ian Harrison will be retiring as a Judge of Appeal and Chief Judge at Common Law in January 2026. Justice Harrison was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 12 February 2007, and as Judge of Appeal and Chief Judge at Common Law on 9 November 2023. Having reached the statutory retirement age, his Honour will be appointed as an Acting Judge of Appeal from 1 February 2026. His Honour will be succeeded as Chief Judge at Common Law by Justice Natalie Adams.
A formal ceremony to mark this occasion will be held in Banco Court, on level 13, on Thursday 11 December 2025 at 9.15am. A morning tea will follow. Registration is not required.
