Dead Time: the detention of Dr Haneef

Production company Lace Balloon is offering Bar Association members discount tickets to their inaugural work, Dead Time. Based on the story of Dr Haneef, Dead Time recounts the events surrounding his unprecedented detention in 2007 under new anti-terrorism provisions in the Commonwealth Crimes Act. The play follows his arrest, detention, prosecution and eventual release. How do we protect national security? And at what cost to our freedom?

The final performance on 29 May will be followed by a presentation by Peter Russo, the defence lawyer who represented Dr Haneef and is now a member of the Queensland Parliament.
