No changes to family law fees

On 4 June 2015 InBrief reported on changes to court fees in the Federal Court, the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court, which were due to commence on 1 July 2015. However, Labor, the Greens and cross-benchers combined in the Senate to disallowed Schedule 2 of the Federal Courts Legislation Amendment (Fees) Regulation 2015, describing the amendments to the Family Law (Fees) Regulation 2012 as a "divorce tax". As a result, there will be no family law fee increases on 1 July 2015. A revised brochure on family law fees is available here.
