Bar FC goes down 1-0 in close fought match against Corrs Chambers Westgarth

07/07/2015

With the high scoring world cup final fresh in their minds, Bar FC took to the field in their own battle against Corrs.

A crisp passing game was the order of the day for most of the first half as Bar FC controlled proceedings in the middle of the park, including some memorable overlap play from Griscti and Lang and shots from Newton, Munro and Mandoh missing by the narrowest of margins. The crowd were entertained by some mesmerising ball control by Maghami, which completely overwhelmed the Corrs defensive line. The finishing touch would not come so that it was 0-0 at the break.

A shock goal from a Corrs corner put Bar FC on the back foot and the game quickly switched to one of rapid counterattack. The opposition strikers were too nervous to go anywhere near the 18 yard box as time and again Harris came rampaging out for another clearance.

A cross from Phillips looked to be the equaliser, with two different heads on the end of it, but the reflexes of the goalkeeper were up to the challenge. The last five minutes saw a sustained barrage of crosses from the boys and girls in blue but it was not to be. 1-0 to Corrs the final result.
