QC Working Party
21/07/2015

In May, Bar Council established a Working Party to further Bar Council’s policy that those counsel appointed Senior Counsel in New South Wales be given the choice of whether to use the title Senior Counsel or Queen’s Counsel (see the InBrief announcement here).
The Working Party comprises Jane Needham SC (Chair), David Bennett AC QC, Paul Menzies QC, Alan Sullivan QC, Jeffrey Phillips SC, Justin Hogan-Doran and Hamish Stitt. The Working Party first met on 3 June.
Members of the Working Party are currently formulating the detail of a draft New South Wales Bar Association proposal which would enable those who are appointed Senior Counsel the option of using the title of Queen’s Counsel. The Working Party will meet later this month to consider that material and the mechanism through which members may provide input into the process. Members will be kept informed of developments.
Jane Needham SC
