BOCSAR study on domestic violence
18/12/2015
The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research has released its Crime and Justice Statistics Brief, Intimate partner homicides in NSW: 2005 to 2014. The results make interesting reading. The report found that: despite a perception that domestic violence offences are escalating, the number of victims of intimate partner homicide has remained relatively stable since 2005; only one-quarter of victims had taken an AVO out against the homicide offender prior to the homicide event; and while Indigenous people were over-represented among the victims, it was particularly disproportionate in regard to male victims (25%).
