Good Friday

28/03/2024

Tomorrow, 29 March 2024, marks Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, on which Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus.

Easter will be observed by Christians on Sunday, 31 March this year to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead; a central tenet to Christian faith. Christians observe the holy day with prayer, special church services and family festivities.

It is thought that eggs were used to symbolise new life, and Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection. Over time, this led to the decoration of eggs with dye and intricate designs for Easter, and eventually, to the creation of individually-wrapped chocolate eggs eaten by many during the Easter period.
