Please be courteous to Association staff

06/05/2025

Particularly during the Practising Certificate renewals period, barristers and clerks are reminded to ensure their communications with Association staff are always respectful and courteous. Bar Association staff are dealing with a large number of calls and emails at this time and are doing their best to support the Bar. The Bar Association is a workplace. Our staff, along with all who interact with the NSW Bar, should work in an environment free from rudeness, harassment, discrimination and bullying.

The Association has a small staff of 35 who support over 2400 barristers and 3200 members, including over 360 members on the Association’s 25 committees. These 35 staff support our library, educational, events, professional conduct, legal assistance, policy and advocacy, mediation and arbitration, certification, membership, fee recovery, wellbeing, publications, and reception services.

There is never an excuse for discourteous behavior. If a member does wish to raise a concern, make a suggestion for improvement or make a complaint, they may do so in writing to the Executive Director at executivedirector@nswbar.asn.au.
