Diversity

Pride Month is celebrated in June each year. Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ communities, reflect on LGBTQIA+ history and continue to advocate for equality and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ people.

Pride Month occurs in June to commemorate the Stonewall riots of June 1969, a pivotal moment for the worldwide gay rights movement. The first pride march was held in New York on 28 June 1970 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.

The Bar Association is committed to supporting a Bar that reflects and is inclusive of the diverse composition of Australia’s society.

Further information about the Association’s commitment to inclusivity and LGBTQI resources are available on the Bar Association’s supporting LGBTQI inclusivity webpage.
