Crisp Autumnal skies formed the backdrop to a Bar FC 3-0 statement victory over JP Morgan today. The result puts Bar FC in the unprecedented position of first on the ladder. Players making distinguished Bar FC debuts today included Jonathon Dooley, Blair Jackson, Michael Hazan and Brandon Smith.

The match began with some attacking albeit disjointed play from Bar FC. Notably, Morrison and Sivanathan got in good positions to score, only to narrowly miss the target. At the back, Larish, Munro and d’Arville contained their opponents leaving Rogers largely untroubled in goal, resulting in a nil-nil scoreline at halftime.

Bar FC found their rhythm in the second half and Coutinho played in Cook, who skilfully created space and struck the opener. Smith, a Very Reliable Junior, was demonstrating he is also a Very Reliable Midfielder and was smothering the threats and distributing the ball with ease – his eye catching performance drew the plaudits at day’s end. This allowed Bar FC to take full control and saw Hartford Davis gallop onto the ball in space and dispatch a disguised finish at the near post to double the Bar FC lead.

Late in the game, Dooley and Jackson were combining on the right flank while Olson was making his presence felt in the attacking third. With the result assured, Bar FC added further gloss with a gloriously crafted team goal in which Smith played in Sivanathan out wide who squared the ball to a waiting Cook whose clinical first time finish rounded out the scoring.
