Bar FC remain undefeated in 2024

Today saw Bar FC take on their old foes, Reserve Bank FC in the Domain Soccer League. With an average age of 23, our opponents provided plenty of opportunity for Bar FC to play catch up. Nevertheless, after 40 minutes of hard grind, Bar FC kept a clean sheet with the resulting score 0-0.

Watched by Lindsay J and Peden J running the line adjudicating, Bar FC started brightly with some nice combination play by Sivanathan and Tembe meant that keeper Philips having little to do. But as Reserve Bank started getting touches on the ball, the defence of our box became an urgent priority with Larish, Munro, Fredericks, Jonathon Dooley and Boyle working hard to keep the wolves at bay. Chances were a premium however Boyle hit a lovely curling shot that was saved by the Reserve Bank keeper. Rogers and Lambert also worked hard on the flanks to provide good support.

The second half started similarly to the first. Philps performed admirably in goal and managed to keep out the opposition. It was not as though Bar FC did not have their chances. Olson slotted the ball into the back of the net only to be disallowed for an offside call. Likewise, Morrison and Rizk had opportunities thwarted by swarming defence.

Whilst no one likes a 0-0 scoreline, it probably represented a fair outcome given the circumstances.
