Bar Bushwalking

On Saturday 22 June 2024, the Bar Bushwalking Club will hold its next bushwalk into the Blue Gum Forest in the iconic Grose Valley at Blackheath. It is one of the ‘must do’ walks in the Upper Blue Mountains, albeit classified “hard” and not for the faint hearted due to its steep climb both into and on the way out of the Valley.
The walk is a long one, about 20km (6-8 hours in duration) and we shall be meeting early at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. The gradient is described as ‘very steep’, so we suggest that only fit and experienced bushwalkers come on this walk.
Meet at the end of Hat Hill Road, Blackheath Car Park entrance (where the asphalt becomes a dirt road) to the National Park. The walk will finish on the Mount Hay Road, Leura at end of the Lockley Pylon Track. We will car pool back to the start of the walk.
Due to the early start on Saturday morning, you may wish to stay in the Blue Mountains on the Friday night. What to bring: 2L of drinking water, hat, sunscreen, walking shoes and snacks/lunch for the day.
If you intend to come on the walk, please register by sending an email to Robert White at rwhite@12thfloor.com.au by no later than Wednesday 19 June 2024, so that we know the numbers. We particularly need to know the numbers because arrangements need to be made to leave enough cars at the end of the walk to car pool members back to the start of the walk.
Any queries, please feel free to call Robert White on 8029 6342, Leah Reid on 9151 2946 or David Pritchard on 9221 3848.
