Position vacant at the National Native Title Tribunal

Expressions of interest are being sought for the position of native title registrar at the National Native Title Tribunal. The tribunal is established under the Native Title Act 1993 (the Act). The Tribunal performs a vital role in the native title system.
The native title registrar has certain statutory responsibilities under the Act, including:
- assessing native title claimant applications for registration against statutory conditions
- giving notice of native title applications to individuals, organisations, governments and the public
- registering Indigenous Land Use Agreements that meet the registration requirements
- maintaining the Register of Native Title Claims, the National Native Title Register (the register of determinations of native title) and the Register of Indigenous Land Use Agreements
- keeping other public records, and
- reporting on specified matters to the Federal Court.

The position can be located in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney. Remuneration is determined by the Remuneration Tribunal for Judicial and Related Offices, currently ‘Determination 2014-09: Judicial and Related Offices - Remuneration and Allowances’ (effective from 1 July 2014).
