Save the date: The Refugee Debate in Australia: Alternative Perspectives

On Tuesday 19 August, a seminar will be held in the Common Room. The seminar will be presented by Julian Burnside AO QC and Professor Jane McAdam. Julian Burnside and Jane McAdam will discuss the myths and realities of the refugee debate in Australia and alternatives to recent government policies on asylum seekers. Julian Burnside AO QC is a well-known Melbourne barrister, human rights and refugee advocate and author. He was recently selected to be the recipient of the Sydney Peace Prize which will be awarded to him in November 2014. Professor Jane McAdam is the Director of the Andrew and Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at the University of New South Wales and Scientia Professor of Law and Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the University of New South Wales.
