Judges, barristers and clerks are warmly invited to the 2014 Common Law Drinks to be held on Friday, 22 August at The Hide, upstairs at the Bull & Bear, 16 Phillip Lane, Sydney. The guest speaker will be the Hon Justice Peter Garling.

It was on 26 August 1928 that Mrs May Donoghue drank ginger beer from a tumbler which, it was claimed, contained the remains of a decomposed snail. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Common Law Bar to relax and share stories in a pleasant and convivial atmosphere and to mark the occasion of the 86th anniversary of this momentous event in the history of the common law.

Tickets cost $90 per person or barristers who are up to 5 years (called to the Bar in 2009 or later), $70. The event is kindly sponsored by LexisNexis. For further information on the event, click here and you can RSVP here. RSVP is essential by Friday, 15 August 2014.
