Victoria following NSW "coward punch" laws

Victoria looks set to emulate harsh mandatory sentencing legislation for "coward punch" assaults, which were passed by the New South Wales Parliament earlier this year. Premier Denis Napthine and Attorney General Robert Clark yesterday announced a 10 year statutory minimum non-parole period for those who punch or strike someone in the head without warning, resulting in their death.
