Federal Family Violence Orders scheme doesn’t have all the answers

The President of the Law Council of Australia has issued a Media Release today stating that, while the Law Council of Australia is pleased the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee’s report into the Family Law Amendment (Federal Family Violence Orders) Bill 2021 acknowledges some of the concerns voiced by the profession, the proposed scheme still fails to address what victims of family violence need – that is, the capacity to make immediate orders at the time protections are most needed.
