Expressions of Interest Sought: Chief Justice of the Australian Capital Territory

The Attorney-General of the Australian Capital Territory, Shane Rattenbury MLA, is currently seeking expressions of interest regarding the appointment of a new Chief Justice to the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.

The current Chief Justice of the ACT, the Honourable Chief Justice Helen Gay Murrell, will retire in the first quarter of 2022.

The Chief Justice is appointed by the ACT Executive. The requirements and selection criteria for appointing a Chief Justice are contained in the Supreme Court (Resident Judges Appointment Requirements) Determination 2015 (No 1), which is available here.
