Harry Bell passed away on Saturday the 31st of July 2021.

Upon leaving Newington College, Harry reserved his place in the University of Sydney Law School in order to volunteer for the AIF. Harry served in the Commando Squadron in New Guinea from 1944 to 1946. (THE 2/6 AUSTRALIAN CAVALRY (COMMANDO) REGIMENT.)

Upon discharge, Harry commenced law at The University of Sydney and graduated with Honours. Following graduation Harry commenced working as a solicitor with Sly & Russell and was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1951. Harry was appointed a District Court Judge in 1974 and is very fondly remembered as a true gentleman by his colleagues. Following retirement in 1997, he acted as a District Court judge for a further three years and served two six-month terms as an acting Judge of the Supreme Court.

A Wake will be held to celebrate Harry's life when COVID-19 restrictions are eased. Members will be advised of details when they are available.
