29/08/2024

On August 19 2024, Eva Buzo of Black Chambers became the first woman to complete an unassisted swim across the Strait of Otranto between Italy and Albania.

Starting from Roca, Puglia, on the heel of Italy, Eva swam 77km to the Karaburun Peninsula west of Vlore, Albania. The swim took in 34 hours and 52 minutes and is, pending MSF ratification, 44th on the list of all-time longest duration marathon swims.

Eva's swim was piloted by Val Kalmikovs of Keppel Islands Swimming Association with crew Kim Miller. She benefited from the coaching of Vlad Mravec and Jai Di Tommaso of Vladswim.
