Tomorrow: The Benefits of Judging Moots
28/02/2022
Webinar - Tuesday, 1 March 2022
Do you remember mooting at university? If you do, keep reading because on Tuesday, 1 March 2022 at 5:15pm the Wellbeing Committee will host a CPD webinar on university mooting competitions and how barristers can benefit from sitting as judges. The webinar will feature a panel discussion by James Sheller SC, Houda Younan SC, Tamara Phillips and Derek Wong.
University mooting competitions often seek barristers to volunteer as moot judges. Moot judging is a valuable way to support budding advocates and to foster connections between emerging lawyers and the Bar, and also provides an opportunity for barrister judges to obtain CPD units. This CPD will provide an overview of the moot competitions that the NSW Bar assists with and what is involved in judging a moot. A panel of mooters, former mooters and experienced moot judges will provide practical tips for judging moots and supporting mooters’ advocacy skills.
This webinar is open to everyone and will be run by registration only. For further information, or to register for this event, please click here.
Mooting is just one of the activities organised by the Wellbeing Committee to promote collegiality. Connecting with colleagues is an effective way to build a positive outlook, especially for those in the early years of practice at the bar.
