Speeches to note: 2008 McPherson Lectures, delivered by Spigelman CJ

Between 10 and 12 March, the chief justice of New South Wales, the Hon JJ Spigelman AC delivered three lectures on statutory interpretation and human rights at the University of Queensland.
The first lecture, entitled "The Common Law Bill of Rights",�focuses on the principles of of the law of statutory interpretation.
The second is entitled "The Application of Quasi-Constitutional Laws"�deals with�the application of "quasi-constitutional laws" such as a statutory bill of rights.
The�third in the series, "Legitimate and Spurious Interpretation", examines the limits of interpretation.
