Barristers Health Survey
07/05/2008

The New South Wales Bar Association is committed to improving the mental and physical health of its members. The Association believes ongoing evaluation of, and research into, mental health and education will promote good mental health and a balanced approach to managing the pressures of practice in the legal profession. The Association is developing a long-term strategy to raise awareness, improve education and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness in the profession, particularly among barristers. The Association supports the important work of the Tristan Jepson Memorial Fund and the Brain and Mind Research Institute through the distribution of its national study examining the actual incidence of depression in the legal profession in Australia and the evaluation of mental health literacy interventions targeted specifically towards the profession.
