AG announces extension of continuing detention orders

Attorney General John Hatzistergos has announced further changes to Continuing Detention Orders (CDOs) and Extended Supervision Orders (ESOs) for high-risk sex offenders. In his media release, the attorney�foreshadowed amendments to the�Crimes (Serious Sex Offenders) Act 2006�that will�add assault with intent to have sexual intercourse�and persistent sexual abuse of a person aged 16 to 17 as�crimes that make�an offender�eligible for a CDO.
The media release added that�"no offender convicted of these crimes has been let out of prison since CDOs were introduced".
