Position vacant: public defender based at Port Macquarie

$213,040 per annum plus conveyance allowance of $15,840 per annum

Attorney General John Hatzistergos is seeking expressions of interest from qualified persons for appointment as a public defender under the Public Defenders Act 1995 for a fixed term that may be renewed.�This position will be based at Port Macquarie but the successful applicant may be required to attend other nearby regional courts as directed.

Selection Criteria: Interested persons must be Australian lawyers with extensive advocacy experience in a wide range of criminal matters, including trials and CCA appeals; and excellent knowledge of criminal law and procedure, and the laws of evidence.
