The Hon Justice Michael Kirby resigns

Attorney-General Robert McClelland has been advised that the Hon Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG�yesterday met with the governor-general, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, and advised Her Excellency of his intention to resign from the High Court of Australia, effective midnight on the evening of Monday, 2 February 2009.
