Dr James Muecke AM, ophthalmologist and Australian of the Year in 2000 will present the next webinar in the Wellbeing Committee’s Eat,Sleep,Move initiative, on Tuesday, 24 August 2021 at 5.15pm. His presentation is directed to nutrition and specifically how our eating habits can lead to prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes. Register here.

'Blinded - Why Type 2 diabetes is a growing epidemic' tells the story of Neil Hansell, a man who woke one morning blind in both eyes due to neglect of his diabetes. In his presentation, Dr Muecke will discuss Type 2 diabetes, how it’s arisen and why it’s a growing epidemic.

Type 2 Diabetes and its precursor, prediabetes, are points on a continuum. Dr Muecke will explain how these are manifestations of wider metabolic dysfunction. He will explore strategies that we should adopt to promote healthier metabolic systems, and to hopefully avoid the onset of diabetes.
